Axial power connectors worked well for years. I get it that there are 4 contacts rather than 2, but micro USB is a joke. Sure!y this isn't the best modern engineering has to offer. But, on the other hand, they're cheap, small and will ensure the device only lasts a year or two. What cellphone manufacturer wants you to own a phone for more than two years max? We keep buying this crap. What choice do we have if we want smart phones. I've learned to fix some issues like replacing batteries. I've never air soldered but it's probably my next skill.
