I did the same thing and you can remove just the outer lens and not tear up the phone. I bought the one for the s5 (not the active) and the metal square doesnt fit but I went ahead and put the lens on and put the original metal cover back on.... granted its not waterproof... but i also broke the charging port cover months ago so it hasnt been water proof in ages.. if you need it fixed itll work is all im saying... and I paid 1.54$ for the replacement for my phone... it was from china i ordered last week and it came today.. no shipping.... for a temp fix i would go this route (i did!!)
