the backlight driver never dies on this. on a1425 the fuse can die, on a1502 the fuse does not. check pin 1 of lcd connector to see what it looks like, check for short to ground. the  "fuse" in a1502 retina models ***IS*** pin 1 of the LCD connector.  and check, if there ***IS**** a short to ground on pin 1 of LCD connector, if it goes away when you unplug the LCD.
