I have successfully replaced the micro USB connector on a Kurio tablet and documented the process here: [guide|43940]. However, as Miles noted, this is a very difficult repair, so I would not recommend trying it unless you are comfortable with soldering at fine pitches. Simply replacing the mainboard with a new one from eBay would be significantly easier.
