Install fully functional 16gb ram on my MacBook model 7,1?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

From my understanding this model wasn't built to equip 16 gbs of ram. After some extensive research I recently found a few articles stating if the Mac book pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 is identified as 7,1 in the system report it can be upgraded to a recognizable 16gb of ram.

One of the articles I'm referring to is one by OWC.

This company states only their ram is quality enough to succeed the 16 gb in a Mac book pro 13" Unibody Mid 2010 is identified as 7,1.

Is this true, or may I buy your 16 gb upgrade kit and successfully upgrade my mac.
