changed digitizer and lcd and now won't go past slide screen

I have an iPad 3 Wifi and I changed the lcd and the digitizer and it won't go past the slide screen. I tried to do a hard reset and it does the same thing.

The apple logo comes on and then the background shows up with the slide to unlock and then goes black.

I know its still on because i can get siri to talk. But nothing comes on the screen. If i do another hard reset it does the same thing.

I've also tried unplugging the battery and it didn't help either.

Any suggestions?
