Replaced screen, now have horizontal white lines. Ideas?

Good evening all,
-I am working to replace what I thought was a completely broken screen on an iPhone 5. I ordered a replacement screen. It works well as I tested it on my working phone. When I connect it to the damaged phone, I see a bunch of white lines horizontal across the screen, if I continue to hit the power button it slowly becomes one white, still line ridden screen.

Any ideas what to check? The connectors for the screen/digitizer/etc look fine on the board, but I could be wrong?
