MacBook air battery 0%

Hi,
I'm having a weird issue here with the macbook air. First I thought the battery was dead so I purchased a new one. After replacing it: no charging, the magsafe light green, 0% on the battery icon. If I unplug the adapter -> sleep mode. I plug back the adapter, it wakes up but still 0% forever...
I tried (without success) pram and smc reset.
I also opened the rear case, plugged the adapter, power on, disconnect the battery while still powered, reconnect the battery and tada! Displaying 88% battery, everything seems normal, no sleep mode if I unplug the adapter, I thought the problem was solved. But if I shutdown and unplug/replug the adapter, I'm having the 0% battery issue again.
I cannot start the macbook without the magsafe adapter plugged. But I found another "trick": I plug the adapter, press the power button and unplug immediately the adapter. It boots, displaying 0% but still without going to sleep mode.
What the ****'s going on?
''EDIT''

Problem solved. I did the trick with unplug/replug while still powered and let it charge a whole day. Then everything came back normal.
I'm not a specialist but it sounds like something needed to "charge" apart from the battery.
