Apple has a nice little trouble shooting guide called the [http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/nano/|Five Rs for the iPod].  Follow that guide and see if it fixes the problem.  If it does not fix the problem, then you may have a bad logic board or a bad battery.
