Replacing the motherboard with 8GB RAM, can I?

crwdns2934249:0crwdne2934249:0:

Hi,

My motherboard is gone due to a spill (advice: if you spill something in the macbook, just bring it in a repair shop for cleanup, as mine lasted 6 more month but would have been OK if I had cleaned it properly).

Anyway, since I am replacing logic board and top cover anyway, I thought I might put in 2.0Ghz i7 with 8GB of RAM instead of the original 1.86Ghz and 4GB.

Are there any incompatibilities between the logic boards of the same year if I put higher end internals? Given that the logic board that I replace with is from a MacBook Air 2012 A1466 same as mine..

Any thoughts? :)
