I bought the Nerf brand 3ds xl case. Cost about $5-$10. It has it's own hing and the two halves of the 3ds snap into it nicely. I then went to my local hardware store and picked up a plastic spacer that fit in the gap where the hinge used to go. I also picked up a thin screw. I drilled a small hole through the hinge of the Nerf case and then put the screw through at hole and into the plastic spacer. It has been working great for a few months now
