Hey, my wife's laptop is about 3 yrs old, and her fan spun up and down constantly, so I removed the cover over the heatsink processor assembly, the entrance to the CPU cooling shroud from the fan was full of dustbunnies, and also I removed the heatsink from the processor and the thermal material was all dried out so I cleaned the processor and heatsink and applied thermal silicon and reassembled, and the fan hardly ever spins up. It is moving, but since everything is thermally efficient again there is no need for high speed fan operation. I would check for dust bunnies in there at least. Probably only need to take off the keyboard to see the thermal assembly.
