sergenteliver, just from the age of the iPod my recommendation would be to replace the battery for sure. Regardless of any error etc. It is absolutely past its life expectancy. the error itself points toward a bad hard drive. You could get an adapter so that you can test the hard drive as an external drive on your computer. It is possible that the drive has "gummed" up and is frozen.
