Gareth McStravick, you will have to disassemble your phone right down to the logic board. Then remove the EMI shield from the top of the SIM card reader and un-solder it from the board. Replace it with a new reader....Now if you go to the bottom of [http://www.ifixit.com/Device/xperia_u?revisionid=HEAD|this page] below the heading Documents, you will find the service manual.
