You have had problems with kexts involving sleep mode ([http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/36069/it+is+not+going+to+sleeping+mode+with+open+cover+of+laptop|1], [http://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/36987/How+to+find+a+bad+kext+wich+is+causing+sleep+problem|2]) before. Have you tried removing those kexts again?
