16gb logic board in 8gb iPhone?

I have a gutted 8gb iPhone 3G that is not functional.  If I get a 16gb logic board can  I install it in the phone and have it work?  (Assuming I install it correctly, of course.)  Are there any other hardware concerns that might not work properly with a 16gb logic board?
