Apple is always expensive and you should be able to fix this yourself, there is a Teardown Guide here http://www.ifixit.com/Device/MacBook_Air and treat the problem area for the liquid damage with alcohol and a tooth brush or whatever tool would work best, it's not a tough thing to do ! Good Luck.
