Disk stuck in optical drive

Is there any way to simply disable the built-in DVD/CD drive through a command using Terminal.  The drive occasionally makes noise and tries to read the disk (which does not appear on the desktop)!

Replacing it looks too difficult for me.  I just want my computer to ignore it.
