iPad Mini 2 LTE: iPad Mini 2 Suddenly Won't Go to "Home", Shows "Slide to Setup"

Suddenly my iPad Mini2 Model A1489 now shows "Slide to Setup" Instead of its usual "Slide to turn on" when I plug it in or turn it on using the "Sleep/Wake" button. The iPad was working fine the day before, and all I did was turn it off and unplug it, as usual. The next day, when I plugged it in, the iPad responded with "Slide to Setup." It recognized my password, then said "Connect to Wifi" and "Connect to iTunes." Since I do not have Wifi, I connected the iPad to my old Mac that still has iTunes. The iPad beeps, and the iPad window on my computer shows the title of my iPad, but the rest of the window is blank, with the Apple logo but no menu, settings options, or content. At the same time, my iPad screen still shows "Connect to iTunes." The "Home" button on my iPad gives no result. Connecting the iPad to my new Mac that has "Music" instead of iTunes makes the iPad beep, but the iPad does not show up on that Mac. The "Sleep/Wake" button on the iPad works OK, and the iPad battery shows 100%. The iPad iOS is 8.2. Help!

Hi! I'm asking the question if you can safely open the iPad Mini without heating up the glass, I'm asking that because I took it to a store and the open the iPad in front of me without heating it and the metal backplate didn't stayed on the display, did they do it wrong?.

iPad Mini 2 LTE: Replaced my screen digitizer.

I replaced my digitizer and anytime I press on the screen, I can see the LCD liquid getting squished even with the lightest taps. I made sure that there is nothing in the way under the LCD which is all clear. Why does this happen?

iPad Mini 2 LTE: Water damage or faulty digitizer?

I’ve been all through the forums, so forgive me if this has been answered.

Our iPad mini 2 (I know, it’s super old) fell into water. I immediately shut it off, opened it up, and pulled everything out. There wasn’t much water inside, but the digitizer connector did have a droplet of water in it.

Meanwhile, I cracked the LCD. Left the iPad open to dry and ordered a new LCD. It works perfectly. But the touch screen no longer works. There is no visible sign of water damage.

Is the digitizer likely damaged by water? Is there any point in ordering a new digitizer? I didn’t damage the digitizer when I opened it, I don’t think.

This is my son’s iPad and he uses it for school, so I’m pretty eager for it to work. We can’t afford a new one, so thanks for any advice.

iPad Mini 2 LTE: I broke my home button. Socket ripped out.

So, I cracked my iPad’s digitizer. I went to replace it then the new digitizer broke and the socket got ripped. I only need to back the data up and unlock it, i see that there are 2 points on the logic board for the home button. As shown here.

Now do I need to put in the inductor and capacitor and resistor and then short it or can I just short the pins out? Thanks.

iPad Mini 2 LTE: Upper left corner unresponsive most of the ti after panel replacement

Hi everyone!

I exhanged the shattered panel with the guide on this site and it went pretty well. The Ipad seems to work well except for one thing. The glued strips that came with the new panel don’t hold very well and I already ordered new strips.

But what’s really irritating is that the upper left corner is unresponsive most of the time. I have to press down on the lower right corner that won’t stay in properly to make it work. Any ideas what is going on? Should I be concerned? Or will this go away once the panel is glued in properly?

iPad Mini 2 LTE: Screen shows only apple logo after replacing LCD/Digitizer?

After replacing the LCD and digitizer screen, the iPad didn't seem to power on. However, it hasn't been used or charged in over a year or more. So I plugged it in and immediately saw an apple logo shown, clearly on screen. Unfortunately, the logo is the only thing that comes up and it seems to cycle from the apple logo to a dark screen and back without any prompting. The logo remains on screen for approximately 7 sec, then the screen goes dark for the same amount of time before the logo shows up again. This is while it's plugged in. The screen remains dark when unplugged.

I've taken it apart again, disconnected the battery, and checked all the connections, before putting it back together and finding the same result as before with the cycling logo and nothing else on screen.

The original damage was from someone intentionally smashing it. Which causes me to wonder if there's some internal damage that I can't see? However, all parts and components appear to be in good condition and are all in their proper places.

Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!

iPad Mini 2 LTE: swollen ipad battery...needs replaced?

bought an ipad mini 2 off ebay…came with a swollen battery (go figure)

I paid about $60 for it, the seller offered a partial refund of $40 because he forgot to mention it…so would end up being $20 (a steal)

he said he never had a problem with it. i’ve been using it for two weeks now and never had a issue with it. screen works fine. charges and holds a charge just like new. so my questions are

(1) is it dangerous? like does it require replacement or am I OK to keep using it as is?

(2) can I, by myself, replace the battery? I’ve replaced two iphone batteries, it’s pretty easy but those batteries weren’t swollen. Or is a swallow battery some risk factor and only an expert can replace it?

I have a iPad mini 2 here not charging.

It turns on everything but it does not charge.

Changed the battery, charging port, and charging ic.

All of the parts work cause I tested each part on another working device.

When I plug in the charger and turn on the device, it shows it's charging but it's fake charging. When I unplug it and plug it back in, it does not charge again.

I have noticed how the voltage drops when athe battery is connected to the device. When a cable is connected to the port, L5700 shows 5v.

With battery drops to 4v and when the device is turned on, its 3v, despite the charger plugged in.

So I never dropped my iPad mini 2, there is really no reason why I have a damaged screen. But it appears with a gray haze over the screen. I tried to google how to fix it and I seen some YouTube videos that mentioned that you can smack the back of it and it would work properly but it only made it worse. I googled the symptoms of this issue again and I found some information saying that some times the magnetics parts can be shocked some how when leaving your iPad on the ground. If I am guilty of something it’s that I left my iPad on the floor ( my floor is tile . Not sure how a tile floor can damage any magnetic parts in the iPad mini 2 but if so what can I buy to did this issue ?

can any one tell me what is damaged? lCD Screen ? The digitizer? Some magnetic strips ?

Is it possible to replace logic board with a wifi only logic board. The ipad is a LTE/wifi model. Thanks to the latest IOS update, my ipad is bricked. ( purchased it from a reseller ( airline luggage) ). Don’t really want to buy another Ipad and apple hasn’t been any help.

I just attempted to replace the lcd and digitizer on an Ipad Mini 2 LTE. I connected everything correctly, but the lcd won’t turn on. The Ipad is recongized in Itunes. I would try to back it up but I can’t allow the computer to be accepted. I tried 3 three lcds. The previous broken one lit up, but was gray and orange with line. Is there some fuse burned out on the Ipad.

I have an iPad mini 2 that was my mother in laws and it stopped working right so she bought a new one and gave me this one. The issue started out when you plugged it in to charge. When you plugged it into the wall charger the apple logo would show on the screen and it would beep slow. It would never turn on or do anything else at all, just show the logo and beep. Now it has progressed to just the logo and nothing else at all. When it dies all the way, the battery icon that shows it needs charged will show up, and then the apple logo comes back and just stays. I’ve done the hard reset with the power and home button and it doesn’t do anything. I can’t seem to get it into recovery mode to plug it into my computer to see if iTunes can do anything.

I’ve just replaced the digitiser on my son’s iPad mini 2. When I turn it on the Apple logo appears and then the iPad turns itself off.

The only way way to get it to turn on again is to disconnect and then reconnect the battery.

If hold the power button and home button I get the same thing. Apple logo appears but then goes off.

Its not a backlight issue as the logo he logo appears fully backlit before disappearing.
