The individual cells are showing about 3.7 volts each and the motor runs for a few seconds before a "code red".

I suspect the battery managment system is faulty.

What I would like to do is "convert it to corded" i.e run it off an adaptor. The motor rating is 160 watts at 18 volts, and the charger adaptor is 18 v at 1.5 watts.

So is the 160 watt motor rating the no load, load or stall amount?

Does it really need a 9 amp rated 18 volt adaptor? (160 /18)?

First, it only happened when the vacuum increased suction.

Then, it started happening within normal use. But if I started it in eco mode, it worked ok.

The thing is, once I turned it on again 3 or 4 times on a row, it started working as usual, without shutting off. Like if something is heating up so the vac starts operating as normal.

Now it shuts down even in eco mode. Still, 3–4 restarts help, and it runs until I manually turn it off.

I'm bewildered/stumped, also difficult to describe, but here it goes :

this is what it looks like, there are 5 mounting slots/channels on top, both robot and collision plate

once inserted gently into channels from the top, this is how it looks, like this there is sufficient switch play and the robot goes forward :

this is what it looks like from below, you can't see the switches inside the gap, about 1 mm, but it seems sufficient leeway by turning the robot on :

I suspect the problem could be reattaching the bottom "chin", this is how it rests by aligning the screw holes gently :

it seems to me the chin is misaligned wrt to those 4 ridges on the robot's bottom, and screwing them back on it looses any "play" somehow, it's been working for about 5 years so it could have deformed somehow, so that the top part is possibly splayed outwards ? or something really finicky/fussy/particular ?

There wouldn't be any signs of visible damage or deformation that I can tell.

I circled where the switch contacts the collision plate/bumper which is worn due to usage :

the switches would seem undamaged, and it works with just the top half of bumper slotted on, also the top and bottom of robot seem correctly seated together

I can't imagine it being so fussy, it could have warped with usage somehow, otherwise when manufacturing them it would take hours just for the bumper, also bumper reassembly videos on youtube seem fairly straightforward, just screwing the 2 halves of bumper together, not

update : it was a silly mistake, reassembling the robot, the top front fascia with sensors was misrotated about 3 mm, the collision plate of course fits perfectly after reseating it, you couldn't tell from those photos, I circled what it was :

​I'm trying to repair my Bissell 2165Z vacuum cleaner, which suddenly stopped working during use due to a burnt/melted internal plastic contact block inside the cord reel mechanism.

​Unfortunately, Bissell doesn't sell this specific internal component or a replacement cord reel assembly anymore. Since I want to avoid throwing the vacuum away and prefer a sustainable repair, does anyone know if there is a compatible alternative part, a source to find this exact cord reel, or a safe way to bypass this damaged contact block?

Bench measurements and trace analysis:

- Pin 2: GND (Vcc-)

- Pin 5: 10V Vcc+

- Pins 1 & 3: AC line phase monitoring (zero-crossing/heartbeat inputs)

- Pin 4: Output running through a 10k resistor to the anode of a PC817 optocoupler (cathode to GND), sending the power-available heartbeat signal across to the secondary-side processor board.

Because Pin 4 drives an optocoupler LED via a 10k resistor rather than a standard logic trace, an open-collector/open-drain output configuration is actually required (sinking current through the optocoupler). We are looking for an exact cross-reference or identification for the '21ASP' SOT-23-5 IC matching this open-collector comparator or logic function.

Since replacement power boards are unavailable, does anyone know the exact cross-reference or functional equivalent for this IC?

Edited to add: I checked the voltage on the docking station and it is getting voltage. The feet on the docking station are springy so they are not stuck. Everything has been cleaned with rubbing alcohol.

Changed the battery out, but the behavior persists. Suspect it is probably the charging board. Firmware update requires installing an app that wants far too much information for the purpose it fills. No way am I going to turn loose a robot from Shenzhen, China on my WiFi network that is all ready having issues with a ton of personal info. I don't see any other external ports to plug the robot in via usb either. Will put this in the junk pile. Maybe some other parts will find their way here someday and I can cannibalize those pieces into one working machine.

When attempting to register, it says device needs factory reset. After performing factory reset, it says it failed and to try again. I also do not hear any tones or sound. Any recommendations? I've tried numerous solutions but nothing seems to work.

I switched off both the loader and the robot. Then I switched on both the loader and the robot and got an undefined signal: upper lights on, middle and under lihgts flash.

So what can I do?
