PlayStation 5 Slim: Games crashing, only when going to online part of games.

I have a PS5 Slim Disc Edition that’s about 1.5 years old. The console works normally in the menus, and I can launch games without issue. For example, Fortnite loads into the lobby just fine, but the moment I ready up and it transitions into an online match, the console crashes with an error (I can provide the exact error code if needed). This behavior is consistent whenever the game starts an online match. I took it to a local repair shop, and they cleaned the console and inspected it. They also looked into the liquid metal/thermal side of things, but ultimately told me the console was beyond what they were able to repair and recommended sending it to Sony. Before I do that, I’m hoping to get opinions from people who repair PS5s regularly. Based on these symptoms, what hardware failure would you suspect? Does this sound more like an APU, RAM, SSD, motherboard, network chip, or another known PS5 Slim issue? If you’ve seen this exact behavior before, what ended up being the cause, and would you send it to Sony or seek out a board-level repair specialist instead?

PlayStation 3 Slim: PS3 Slim Power Button Connector Ripped Off - Need Help Reconstructing

Hi everyone,

I’m in a bit of a tough spot with my PS3 Slim CECH-3004A.

While disassembling it for a thermal paste change, I accidentally pulled the power ribbon cable connector by the head instead of releasing it. This resulted in the entire connector ripping off the motherboard, taking some of the solder pads with it.

From what I can observe, the PCB seems to have a standard 2-layer traces on the surface, and I can’t see any obvious internal layers for these specific traces. I’ve tried to trace them, but I’m struggling to find where they lead to create jumpers.

Could you please help me with the following?

Does anyone have a schematic or a high-resolution trace map for the power button connector area (specifically for the Slim model)?

Are there any recommended videos or guides on reconstructing lifted pads or where to bridge (jumper) the connections for this specific part?

Confirming if I only need to worry about surface traces or if there are via-connections I might have missed.

I have some soldering experience but reconstructing pads is new to me. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

PlayStation 5 Slim: PS5 Slim CE-108255-1 crash when joining online matches

I have a PS5 Slim Disc Edition (~1.5 years old). It works fine in menus and lobbies, but crashes with error CE-108255-1 specifically when transitioning from a lobby (like Fortnite) into an online match.

DualSense Edge: Finding replacement 6-pin ribbon cables for the DualSense Edge

Hello iFixit members!

I'm asking a question: where I can get the replacement 6-pin ribbon cable for my DualSense Edge? I had accidentally damaged the cable during reassembly, and I need the replacement ribbon cable real quick.

It has to be within the exact specification:

6-pin

0.5mm pitch, which is the same as the trigger ribbon cable

3.8 to 4 cm in length. The reason why it has to be in this specific length is because if it's too long, it will push against the back shell of the controller, and if it's too short and the cable won't reach either the mainboard connector or the sub boards (which contains both the back buttons and the relays to the rumble motor)

Conductors has to be on the same side.

I can't find the exact cable on e-commerce stores Aliexpress, hence why I asked for help here,

Update 1: Here's the picture of the cable in question:

Update 2 (July 16, 2026): My order at Kasynparts (https://kasynparts.com/product/ps5-duals...) had arrived today...only to find out that it's the 50mm cables (which is way too long to be fit into the controller). I have to place an order at an Aliexpress shop (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10050124...) and is currently wait to see if the shop does actually sell the 40mm cable.

PSP E1000: My PSP has no sign of life

Hi I have had this psp for like a year now and it was basically in near new condition. But one day when I had it on charge it was over heating and I don’t think I turn it off properly (left it on rest mode) and so I quickly disconnected it BUT now it won’t turn on.
PlayStation 5: Why can't I download a game I have bought?

I downloaded a trial for Company of Heroes 3 and after my 2 hours trial time, bought it on sale. It never recognised that I had bought it and insisted my 'trial period was over' when trying to play it. Multiple resets later, I was required to do a firmware update. This is it, i thought. Nope.

I decided to reinstall, deleting the game. When going back to the store directly or through my library there is a dollar amount on the COH3 page instead of a download option - looking as though I havn't purchased it. Attempting to purchase again it say I already own this product.

I tried to restore the license though settings, which I have done before, but it appears you can only restore licenses for games that are INSTALLED.

System software up to date, game purchased, no download option. Have I lost my money?

PlayStation: SCPH-1000 NO left channel audio

Hey everyone.

I'm working on an SCPH-1000 (PU-7 motherboard) that's developed a strange audio issue, and I'm hoping someone here has seen this before.

No left channel audio from the AV Multi Out.

If I connect the left and right RCA outputs together, the left channel disappears completely, leaving audio only on the right channel.

What I've already tried so far.

Replaced all electrolytic capacitors around the AKM DAC.

Swapped the AKM DAC with a known-good one from another working SCPH-1002( though its a different version AKM4309VM, after changing it still plays audio same issue as before).

Removed the left-channel muting transistor to rule out a faulty mute circuit.

Checked continuity from the AV Multi Out pins, and the traces appear to be intact.

While probing pins 15 and 16 of the AKM DAC, I accidentally caused the left channel to start playing while the CD was spinning. The audio was present but slightly distorted. That initially made me suspect the DAC itself, but replacing it made no difference.

At this point, I'm not sure whether I'm dealing with:

a broken trace or via,

a fault in the analog output stage,

an issue elsewhere on the audio path,

or something I'm completely overlooking.

Unfortunately, I don't have a proper schematic for the PU-7 board, so I'm troubleshooting somewhat blindly.

Has anyone experienced a similar fault or have any suggestions on what I should check next? Any advice, measurements, or likely failure points would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
