My Lenovo Yoga 7 16ARP8 laptop will not turn on and shows no charging light at all.

Steps I have already tried:

1. Tested multiple working outlets, USB-C cables, and power adapters.

2. Performed a hard power reset by holding the power button for 60 seconds with power disconnected.

3. Opened the lower case, inspected internal components, and verified/reconnected the internal battery and ribbon connectors.

None of these steps resolved the issue or brought back the charging light. What board-level diagnostics or components (e.g. charging IC, USB-C power delivery board, fuses, or MOSFETs) should I test next using a multimeter?

I replaced the battery on my Dell XPS 13 9360, but now the laptop is completely dead with no signs of life, power indicator lights, or response to the power button. I have already tried:

- Plugging in a known-working power adapter directly without the battery

Lenovo Thinkpad T430: 2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD) - problem with motherboard

Hi everyone,

Lately I have been getting this problem when booting the computer: "2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD). Press Esc to continue". I used to press Esc and then the computer would boot normally, but the other day when I booted the laptop I just got a black screen and nothing reacting (even if the power button had light, but it would not even switch off). As I did not know what to do, I took the laptop to a technician.

He was trying another hard drive in the laptop to see whether it was a problem with my HDD or with the connector of the motherboard and concluded that the problem was the motherboard and it had to be changed. Basically, the connector is a bit loose, so the HDD moves a bit, what causes the connection problem. As it is quite a lot of money, I decided to take the laptop home and try to figure out a solution.

The solution that I have found is to place two cotton pads from the ones used to remove make up below the HDD, then installing the HDD and place another cotton pad in between the HDD and the sponge that is inside the case. With the added pressure of the pads, the HDD does not move and everything works fine so far. However, I feel that this solution is not the best one. So, I was wondering whether you have better ideas.

Is there any other solution that you can think of so the HDD does not move or to fix the connector without changing the motherboard?

Can you suggest other materials that may be better than a cotton pad?

Cheers!

I’m experiencing a power‑limit issue: the CPU frequency drops to 300–400 MHz while the temperature stays around 70°C.
Asus VivoBook: Asus VivoBook F1502Z won't turn on: power light on, no fan, no charge LED

My Asus VivoBook F1502Z fails to turn on or boot. When I plug in the power adapter, only the power indicator light turns on, but the charging light does not respond, the fan does not spin, and the screen remains completely black.

Here are the troubleshooting steps I have already tried:

1. Performed a hard reset by unplugging all accessories and holding the power button for 40 seconds.

2. Opened the back cover and temporarily disconnected the internal battery, then tried plugging in the power adapter.

3. Tested behavior with and without the battery connected.

Despite these steps, there is zero change: the power light turns on as soon as the adapter is plugged in, but there is no other response, fan activity, or display output. What could be causing this motherboard-level behavior, and how can it be diagnosed or fixed?

Asus Laptop FX505D: Screen flickering, half blacking out

I am trying to fix an issue with an ASUS FX505D gaming laptop. It is running Windows 11. So far, we have opened it up and dusted, updated drivers, rolled back drivers, installed drivers through Adrenalin, disconnected and reconnected the display cable, and rebooted countless times. One thing that helped was setting the GameVisual preset to Racing through Armoury Crate, though there was intense flickering and a transparent afterimage on the bottom half of the screen. In some cases, a completely white window would improve the picture. In most cases, the issue appeared slightly better at a refresh rate of 48hz as opposed to 120hz. Currently, the bottom half of the screen is black, with an approx. 1-inch bar of the same line of repeating pixels between it and the functioning top half of the screen. Is this an issue with a connector, a driver, or the screen itself?

Dell Inspiron 14-7440 2-in-1: year old smoothie spill on laptop, can my laptop be fixed?

hello! some background info/context:

almost an entire year ago now, i spilled a bit of smoothie on my laptop (dell inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 is what it said when i checked the qr code) it wasnt much i dont think, and was on the top left corner of the keyboard. i turned it off almost immediately. at the time, i was at my grandparents, and nothing could be done until i got home a few weeks later. i told my dad about the issue, and he agreed to take it to get repaired

the spill happened in around october of 2025. it took him until late january 2026 to take it to bestbuy to get it looked at. due to a lot of personal family issues, there was nothing i couldve done to have gotten it looked at any sooner. however, the worker at best buy did not even look at it before saying that the motherboard was probably shot, and that it would cost over $700 to repair. so we left.

afterwards, my dad ended up opening it up and agreed that the motherboard looked dirty and likely couldnt be fixed. he was stingy about me looking at it myself, as ive never done a tech repair before.

fast forward many many months to today, where i finally was able to look inside the laptop myself. i noticed that the keys around where the spill was are no longer sticky, which they were INCREDIBLY sticky initially, which i cant tell if this is a good sign or not. i took the back off, and from what little bit of the motherboard i can see, it genuinely doesnt look dirty at all to me. i wanted to try to remove some more pieces so i could get a better look and see what all might need cleaning or if it just needed to be replaced, but couldnt get the battery out because of how hard the screws were to remove. im going to try again tomorrow morning with some help

the computer still hasnt been turned on since the initial spill, it was briefly charged before being taken in to bestbuy (legitimately for maybe like 10 minutes at the absolute most) but aside from that, nothing has been done

all this to say and with pictures provided, can this laptop be saved?

any help at all will be appreciated, thank you! :)
