Xbox One: Xbox Powers on and immediately powers off

Has anyone figured out exactly what is causing the problem with Xbox Ones that power on, and immediately power off. The power brick is lit orange which instantaneously turns white once the Xbox is turned on directly from the console, but immediately powers off.

This is a very common problem that Microsoft will not discuss.

Xbox Series X: Xbox Series X stuck at 61% update (E100 00000703 80910002 / 0xc000000e

My Xbox Series X is stuck during a system update at around 61% and always fails with error code E100 00000703 80910002.

I also extracted system recovery logs showing repeated Optical Disc Drive (ODD) failures:

Log output:

FAILED to find ODD physical device, status = 0xc000000E. GetOddPhysicalDevice failed.
COddDevice::_Open failed!
Odd open failed, retry in one second...

Symptoms:

Update always stops at 61% (online and offline USB update both fail),
disk drive shows no mechanical activity (no spin, no motor response)

Console still detects disc presence state (inserted / not inserted correctly)

Eject button works (UI sound response)

The console does not boot when the disc drive is disconnected

What I already tried:

Reseated all internal disk drive connections

Full power cycle

Offline system update via USB (OSU1)

Tested without external USB storage

Verified behavior with no disc inserted

The console was working normally before this update attempt. The failure always happens at the same stage (61%), which seems to coincide with ODD initialization.

Has anyone seen this exact combination of:

Update freeze at 61%

E100 00000703 80910002 error

ODD physical device failure (0xc000000E)

Drive detected logically, but not mechanically active

Is this more likely a firmware/drive pairing issue, or a hardware failure of the disk drive or the motherboard communication line?

Xbox 360: Xbox 360 Xenon with no power

Hi! I bought this 360 as untested for a potential old dashboard (manufacture date is 2005/10, and has never been opened until I opened it today).

The problem is, the console has no power. Doesn't respond to power button, eject button, stays off. PSU led is always orange. Here are the things i found: 1.8V standby is okay, 3.3V is okay too, at the power plug from pin 1-3 there is 0V, from pin4-7 there's 0.2V, that grows to 0.3V if plugged in, SMC_RESET_N at J2B1 PIN 6 is always low, no matter what, its at 0V. I tried to power it with my lab psu so i could find whether there's a short (thats potentially feeding back to the power connectors) but nothing. Still no life. The 3.3V is there at the RF Board so that's not the problem, the RF board also work on another motherboard. Already tried to reflow the NAND, Southbridge, and ANA to no success yet. Any ideas what could cause this? I'd appreciate any help! Thanks for reading!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, that i measured connectivity between J2B1 Pin 6, and all the points that are mentioned being connected to SMC_RESET_N, and all seems fine.

Xbox 360: when I put a disc in it will say “Play DVD

Hey I recently got a second hand Xbox 360 Elite and as the disc tray wouldn’t open due to a damaged cogwheel I decided to replace the LiteOn disc drive with a replacement one.

I made sure to remove the board from the original console’s disc tray and solder it on to the replacement one. All seemed just fine but I’m new to soldering and console repairs in general.

It worked a treat and now I have a working disc tray that opens and closes and reads discs fine.

My only issue is that sometimes when I put a disc in it will say “Play DVD”. Every time this has happened I can open the tray, adjust the disc a little and then it will read and load the game fine.

My question is what is the likely cause of the play dvd issue? Could it be a shoddy solder job with the wires on the board?

Does the laser need adjusting or cleaning?

It doesn’t seem to be a serious problem because I can always get games to play but if I can eliminate the issue that would be great.

Xbox Series X: I tried replacing thermal paste and pads but now XSX is dead.

So my XSX started to shut down. I bought it back in 2020 and it pretty much stayed on while I’ve had it the whole time. I took it apart and cleaned it all out to see that would fix the issue and It didn’t fix the problem. I then looked up and bought all the thermals paste and pads. Because from what I read it seems that the paste was bad. Which it was.

I watched videos and guides on how to perform all of it. I then went ahead with the job. I have done this before on PC’s and older Xbox gens so I didn’t think I would run into any issues, but I have.

When I try starting up my system now it stays on the green Xbox logo for maybe 5 minutes or so. It will eventually get to the home screen but that is where it all ends. I tried connecting to WiFi but It says I have a Ethernet connected. Which I don’t. I tried connecting an Ethernet cable to get internet. It says it’s wired but nothing.

Also I did a hard reset on the console but now nothing happens because it can’t update itself.

Does anybody know what could be wrong here? I took apart again to make sure all ribbon cables and plugs were connected properly. They all seem to be. But who knows?

I appreciate anybody helping me out. If not, I’ll just get a new system. Thanks.

Xbox Series S: Why is the Xbox Series S power light flicker and then turning off?

I'm trying to repair an Xbox Series S. When I try to turn on the console, the power light turns on for a second, and then shuts off. Other than that, the console does show any visible response to pressing the power button. The fan doesn't even attempt to start spinning up. I've tried booting the console in safe mode, but it gives the same result. At first, I thought that it might be a power supply issue, but replacing the power supply didn't do anything to fix it.

As of now I wanted to boot up COD MW2 to play and my laser is now not reading it and it says open tray but only 3 weeks ago it was fine playing games. So I wanted to ask should I replace it again or change the voltage of the laser or fix my belt because I got a whole new disc drive and yes I paired with the original circuit board and disc drive board.
Xbox 360: Xbox 360 turns on by itself, then disc tray open and closes repeatedly

Whenever I plug my Xbox 360 into power, within 10 seconds it will automatically turn itself on and the disc tray will repeatedly open and close. Sometimes it will start closing before it is fully opened. I have taken it apart and replaced the drive belt with a brand new one that is not warped/stretched. That did not help the issue. How can I tell if maybe the board is bad or eject button is broken or it is potentially overheating? No warnings pop up on screen. Sometimes if I put a game in, it will stop long enough to start the game and then the tray opens again which boots me back to the menu so I cannot play disc-based games. If I start a digital game such as Minecraft I can continue playing while the tray opens and closes constantly.
