Description : black box. 2 prongs on top of box with a metal piece with circle cutout at back of box (maybe it’s where a screw would go to hold it in place, but I’m sure that the prongs would hold it?). The replacement for this has wires instead of prongs and 450 vac. I don’t know if this would work.

I cannot get the plastic rear cover off the main body.

I have removed the ON/OFF switch button so the switch lever can move freely.

Something else seems to prevent the cover from coming off.

Does anyone know how to get it off?

Ridgid Brushless R86040: Switch terminal failed, is there a way to unpot and fix it?

The potted aluminum "terminal" from the switch assembly of my grinder isn’t passing through the black wire’s conductivity. Is there anyway to unpot it, or if the components on the inside are well-known, so that I could repair it without unpotting it, such as bypassing it entirely with a jumper wire? Looks like it has some thin lines coming off of it to run a little LED light, so I wonder if that’s its only role.

Edit for clarity: The part number of the potted aluminum block(Plus the trigger and battery connector) is “202582001“ from the General Assembly Diagram on the page for the tool.

When I push the paddle on the grinder it tries to turn on and stops in a second. I have to unplug it a couple of times for it to finally start working
